About

Statement

As an artist, my creative journey has taken a detour over the past 12 years as I embraced the role of a stay-at-home parent. During this period, my time, energy, and focus were devoted to nurturing my child and creating a loving home. While I managed to carve out moments for artistic practice, it was not always a consistent pursuit. Now, as my son has grown older and more independent, I find myself with an opportunity to begin a path to rekindle my artistic passion.

Being a parent has had a profound impact on me, not only in terms of personal growth but also as someone inherently sensitive, and with a history of personal struggles. These experiences, when the time is right, will find expression in my art in ways I have yet to explore.

While oil painting remains my primary medium, I also venture into watercolor, clay, and other creative forms. I have discovered that experimenting with different mediums fosters growth and allows for diverse avenues of expression.

Ultimately, this next chapter of self-expression is fueled by a resolute purpose: to discover and articulate my unique voice. Presently, I approach this process with disciplined practice, focusing on the subject of nature. Nature has always held an enchanting beauty that captivates me, and I strive to distill its essence into concise visual expressions, using a deliberate limited color palette and direct composition. When I can accomplish this, I will be prepared to delve into the depths of my personal experiences as a woman, as a mother, and as an individual navigating this bewildering world.

Through disciplined practice and a profound connection with the beauty of nature, I am compelled to unearth the personal narratives that dwell within me. By discovering my unique voice, I aspire to create art that not only resonates with others but also serves as a testament to the transformative experiences of motherhood. Simultaneously, I hope that my expressions of nature offer serenity, presence, and joy.

Bio

Born in Southern California, I was nurtured by the vibrant landscapes and cultural diversity that surrounded me. My artistic journey began at a young age, as I embarked on a unique educational experience at a Waldorf school from 1st through 12th grade. The school’s distinctive curriculum fostered not only my academic growth but also ignited a passion for creativity, instilling within me a life philosophy rooted in artistic expression, nature, and spirituality.

Fueled by this early foundation, I pursued my arts education at the University of San Francisco. There, I immersed myself in the world of painting and drawing, honing my skills and expanding my horizons. In 1997, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, solidifying my commitment to a lifelong artistic journey.

Since 2013, I have called Oceanside, California my home, where I have found inspiration in the coastal, desert and mountainous scenery as well as the rich artistic community that thrives in the area. Nestled in this coastal home, my artistic journey has evolved, shaped by the beautiful complexities of life, love, and family.
